The KVK has started its
function from sept.1977 and priority was given for development of
infrastructural facilities like buildings, development of campus,
instructional units and other facilities required for on-campus
activities . This took about four year to fulfill the minimum
requirements, In the mean time all the activities related to
‘Transfer of Technology’ have been conducted on farmers field .
there after , on-campus activities were started at main campus and
its sub-units located under different agro-ecological situations
.The achievements made by KVK during the last two decades in
relation to infrastructural development, training programs for
practicing farmers ,rural youth and extension functionaries ,
demonstration of latest technologies under “ Lab to land program “,
front line demonstration oil and pulses), On-farm trails as well as
operational Research project (Alkali Reclamation) are presented as
under – |

Well developed
infrastructural facilities and available human resource are soul of
any institution . An institution like KVK which has been created as
Agricultural Polytechnic for providing all information at a single
point . The important of such facilities become more valuable for
imparting vocational training, demonstrating technological
performance and their relevance under specific condition. Keeping in
view , the KVK has developed strengthened its infrastructural
facilities from time to time as per needs of the farming community
for providing better knowledge , improving the skill and efficiency
and changing the behavioral attitude as well as maximizing the
adoption rate of latest technological for improving the agricultural
facilities are presented below – |

The administrative
building consisting of office , staff rooms, home science lab, A.V.
Aid room, training room, information centre and community hall have
been completed during the period of 1977-80. A Farmers hostel of
sixty beds , has been also constructed in 1982 with the financial
assistance of Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India.
For maximum
utilization of human resources of KVK , residential quarter for all
the staff have been constructed in the year 1984-85 with the
financial assistance of ICAR. A woman hostel was also constructed by
KVK from allied resources in the year 1988 with total capacity of
forty beds.
To cater the needs
of training and other services, the administrative building was
further extended during the year 1995-96 with the financial support
of KVK ,ICAR and INDO-DUTCH project. The building consist of four
big halls for imparting training , development of library facility
and a dining hall with kitchen for farmers. |

As it was stated
earlier that the problem soils of the district have been broadly
classified into ravines and eroded area along with Gomti and
tributaries, area affected with salts and waterlogged area of
temporary or permanent nature . Fortunately land held by the KVK was
representing all the problem areas which have been developed for
imparting skill training in the areas of crops , horticulture,
agro-forestry and fish culture. Apart from it, the supporting units
like, dairy , poultry, goat keeping, home science, agricultural
workshop etc. have been also developed for providing practical
training to the farmers and rural youth. |
